Still Standing on the Word
The words of the Lord are pure words,
Like silver tried in a furnace of earth,
Purified seven times,
Thou shall keep them, O Lord,
Thou shall preserve them from this generation forever. (Psalm 12:6-7)

So much of our world has changed and is changing since entering this pandemic. Covid-19 has caused so many of our traditions, comforts, and interactions to change drastically. The economic impact has shut many businesses down and displaced workers like we have never seen before. The financial impact will continue to be felt for years to come. CDC and health organizations are constantly updating protocols for health and safety that keep us confused. Congregations and leaderships have implemented monumental plans to facilitate worship and maintain memberships.
With so much shifting and inconsistency many are looking for stability and constancy. The Psalmist is convinced that what will stand and remain is the “The Words of God”. His pure words will last the test of time. Words of the Lord will be preserved from this generation forever. Jesus also expressed the same outlook in Matthew 24:35 when he said, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”
